What is Anthurium Regale? Origin and Appearance

Anthurium Regale is a spectacular evergreen perennial aroid in the Araceae family. The plant is native to Northeastern Peru and found growing in disturbed areas. It grows along the edge of the cool Andes Mountains at elevations of 500-1000 meters above sea level.

Regale Anthurium can reach 1.5-2.4 meters with a short stem. It produces subterete, deeply sulcate adaxially, and 30-35 cm long petioles, heart-shaped leaves with pale below side. The leaves can grow up to 2 meters long with white and yellow veins.

The Regale Anthurium blooms from the inflorescence that consists of a green spadix and spathe. The spadix is 10-15 cm long and is surrounded by the broadly lanceolate, long green spathe on a 40-50 cm long peduncle. Its flowers are bisexual and feature common reproductive organs. How to Grow and Care for Your Anthurium Regale? Care Requirements, Tips & Tricks

Anthurium Regale is a challenging-to-care-for plant. It is a slow grower and very sensitive to environmental fluctuations. Moreover, it is also more difficult to acclimatize. If you are also struggling with this tropical beauty, follow these care tips to grow these magnificent plants.

1. Anthurium Regale Lighting and Placement Requirements

Location and strategic lighting are the primary keys to creating the best environment for your plant. For optimal growth results, place your plant in bright or indirect sunlight. North and east-facing windows are the best locations for Anthurium Regale because they provide filtered sunlight, which protects your plant from damage.

The sun’s harsh rays can scorch leaves and make them look bad. This anthurium species can also grow larger leaves in low light. If there is insufficient light, you can use supplements such as artificial grow lights to give your plant healthy growth.

2. Anthurium Regale Temperature Requirements

Anthurium regale thrives in warm areas. The ideal temperature range for this plant ranges between 65 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. At night, the temperature should not be lower than 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

Prevent your plant from temperature fluctuations; they can damage pretty blooms and large glossy leaves. Always prefer a consistent and warm environment for your plant’s happiness.

3. Anthurium Regale Humidity Requirements

An ideal humidity level is necessary for anthurium regale to grow well. Tropical plants require moderate to high humidity, so 60% to 80% is the best humidity range for anthurium regale.

This plant is sensitive, so if you ship it from overseas, be ready to lose some leaves. Anthurium regale is more expensive than other anthuriums, so beginners should start with an easier anthurium to care for.

You can maintain your plants during insufficient humidity conditions by filling a pebble tray with water or using a humidifier.

4. What is the Best Soil for Your Anthurium Regale?

Porous and well-drained soil is essential for plant health. Soggy soil has adverse effects on plant health. Suitable soil mix for your Aroid includes perlite, coco peat, coco husks, activated charcoal, worm castings, and orchid bark.
